Clean sheet for Joe & Max

Our defence worked extremely hard for this clean sheet. Well done to the back three & the keepers , The clean sheet doesn’t happen if we don’t all pull together.

We started the game pretty well.

The pitch was a lot smaller than we are used to so the boys had to adjust to tighter pressure in small areas. We started really positive nevertheless. Our shape looked good and the team kept the ball enough to be rewarded with a few goals.

I saw some good combinations and some good connected passes within our defence and our midfield.

We kept creating even more opportunities but at times the final decision was just the wrong one,

Nevertheless positive outcomes with the amount of chances created.

Half time

We started the second half very similar to the first. Good defensive shape, good communication within the Keepers and the midfield.

The pressure we put on was exactly how we planned.

I believe the boys didn’t move from gear 3 to be perfectly honest. The game was in our control and at times when you have a bit time we ended up rushing the find the forward players and we could have driven in to space.

Overall the team delivered a good performance. We spoke about keeping a clean sheet on Thursday and training was around this and the boys didn’t well to tactically get it right.

Things to work on.

1. If your on a counter attack and you have space to drive in to you don’t have to rush the pass till one of the opposite defenders come to close you down then make the pass/shoot.

2. At times there’s a wide pass available or an overlap , Always look up to check , Then it’s about YOU seeing what the best decision is to make, The overlaps are always important to make even if you don’t get the ball.

3. Play smart. If the ball is about to go off at speed with no pressure do you need to try and control it ? You tried now it’s the opposite team’s ball. Better to see it off now it’s your ball.

Overall individually I think we played a little below than your normal personal abilities but as a team we were more supportive especially defensively as a team.
